I just want to cross verify that whether you can able to do it through normal process or not. As per the error message which you attached here, there are configurations missing in normal MM return process itself.
So discuss with MM consultant & sort out that normal process issue. Doing the same process through QM notification will not have much configurations required if this process is in place.
