summaries and shared numbervar

HI team,

I have to show how weight is distributed across days/routes/service-areas - to start out I am using a simplistic customer count / weight . 

The report I chose to create shows in the main report the

G1: Service Dates and

G2: the route and

G3: the service area.

GF3 : Subreport for the tripweight - which is linked by service date and route.

I was able to create the shared variable weight and associated "summary"

(shared numbervar Tripweight;

shared numbervar GROUPTOTAL:= GROUPTOTAL+Tripweight)

..... but for some reason i cannot add it to the report footer, i guess because i am using a grouptotal as a variable.

question 1: how can i push it into the report footer?

In the report footer I am now showing the total of all services customer counts and their % by service area (in a crosstab) and I now want to show the total weight breakdown based on those customer count % 

can you help?

question 2: how can i now make my trip weight summary part of the overall weight distribution?

I want to recreate the weight distribution column that I generated in excel:
