Update historical data for new COPA characteristics

HI All,

     Our company went live few years  year ago on SAP and we had COPA configured then. Recently we realized that we needed new characteristic from MARA and PROJ and I created it. But how do I update CE1 tables for the historical data to get in values for the new characteristic from PROJ,MARA. I tried KEND,KENR and they only update CE4. But the COPA reports we created use information from CE1 and not CE4. I have trying to find a good solution for this for days and have been unsuccessful. Your help and advice would be deeply appreciated.
